I am just a mom, just a mom who lost her son. He was 30 when he passed. My heart broke when his stopped beating. I did not know Robert, but I do know loss. As a mom, I get it. The missing them never, ever stops. I wanted to pay tribute to your loved one today on her passing day. It can be hard for those left behind. You are not alone, not today. He is with you in spirit as my son is with me. Thank you for sharing the memorial and his story. What a life he lived!!

Always and forever Ryan P Frye's Mom Jeanne

My condolences to the Peace family. This VM arrangement is an encouraging way to share comforting thoughts.  Mr. Peace is in God's memory. God's will is to bring back our loved ones so that we can reunite with them.  Then Mr. Peace can continue with his adventures in a peaceful world. Revelation 21:3,4. ~Sincerely

Nice to hear from you Leela. My Dad was indeed a very special guy. He too was an adventurer, and spent time exploring the Congo before the war. As a family we visited Mocambique many times in the 1960's. I've added a page in your Dad's memory on the 26 Squadron SAAF website using material from this site (with Sharon's permission) and some material kindly supplied by Will Cornell. If anyone has anything they would like me to add or change please feel free to contact me. //mysite.mweb.co.za/residents/bd000006/

Thank you Bruce de Saxe for your note, I was lovely to read a note about my Dad, I would love to hear more. I am sure your Dad was as special as my Dad was. I bet they have meet up and are exchanging stories.

Bob flew with 26 Squadron SAAF during World War II. My late father was also a Wellington pilot in this squadron at the time and I have no doubt they knew each other. There is a website dedicated to "26 Squadron SAAF". (The link can be found on Wikipedia).

To all of Robert's wonderful family,Wow what an exciting life he had! Full of adventure! I am sorry to say my son Tyson's life was not that way.In fact I dont even think he was meant for this world, everything seemed to overwhelm him,(responsibility that is)he seemed to feel it was to complicated?and then the last 11/2 yrs had depression. The one thing they had in common was there Love for God! and now they can enjoy a better home,in eternity! amen God Bless You!

(Psalm 90:10) 10 In themselves the days of our years are seventy years; And if because of special mightiness they are eighty years, Yet their insistence is on trouble and hurtful things; For it must quickly pass by, and away we fly.

The memorial to your grandfather was very nice, it’s not only kept him alive in your memory but also in the memories of all of us. It is good to fellowship with others especially during such distressful times. In our youth 70 or 80 years seems an eternity but as the gap shortens decade by decade it’s good to remember those with us now and those that are gone. Continue to love and cherish each other making beautiful memories that will last for generations to come… (Proverbs 10:22) The blessing of Jehovah—that is what makes rich, and he adds no pain with it.

missing you

07-15-2008 7:28 PM -- By: Sharon,  From: Atlanta

Hi Grandad,
I just popped a Rolo in my mouth and had a flashback of you....
Remember the time you drove me around to nursing homes in Long Beach when I was just out of high school had moved to LA and was interviewing for a job as a nurses aide.  After the first interview you pulled into a gas station and bought us Rolo's we were going to have just one but ate both rolls before we'd even pulled out of the place.    I don't think I've had one since that day...  I wish I'd told you how happy I was that day and how special you made me feel.   I think of you often -- look for glimpses of you in my son's eyes, (also blue like yours and mom's while the rest of us have green) and see your gentleness in him often.  My dreams will all come true if he lives his life with the same adventurous spirit, gusto and compassion you had... I miss you Grandaddy!
