11-27-2009 12:02 PM -- By: , From: Nice to hear from you Leela. My Dad was indeed a very special guy. He too was an adventurer, and spent time exploring the Congo before the war. As a family we visited Mocambique many times in the 1960's. I've added a page in your Dad's memory on the 26 Squadron SAAF website using material from this site (with Sharon's permission) and some material kindly supplied by Will Cornell. If anyone has anything they would like me to add or change please feel free to contact me. //mysite.mweb.co.za/residents/bd000006/

10-13-2009 9:15 AM -- By: Bruce de Saxe, From: South Africa Bob flew with 26 Squadron SAAF during World War II. My late father was also a Wellington pilot in this squadron at the time and I have no doubt they knew each other. There is a website dedicated to "26 Squadron SAAF". (The link can be found on Wikipedia).

(Psalm 90:10) 10 In themselves the days of our years are seventy years; And if because of special mightiness they are eighty years, Yet their insistence is on trouble and hurtful things; For it must quickly pass by, and away we fly.
The memorial to your grandfather was very nice, it’s not only kept him alive in your memory but also in the memories of all of us. It is good to fellowship with others especially during such distressful times. In our youth 70 or 80 years seems an eternity but as the gap shortens decade by decade it’s good to remember those with us now and those that are gone. Continue to love and cherish each other making beautiful memories that will last for generations to come… (Proverbs 10:22) The blessing of Jehovah—that is what makes rich, and he adds no pain with it.

07-15-2008 7:28 PM -- By: Sharon, From: Atlanta Hi Grandad,
I just popped a Rolo in my mouth and had a flashback of you....
Remember the time you drove me around to nursing homes in Long Beach when I was just out of high school had moved to LA and was interviewing for a job as a nurses aide. After the first interview you pulled into a gas station and bought us Rolo's we were going to have just one but ate both rolls before we'd even pulled out of the place. I don't think I've had one since that day... I wish I'd told you how happy I was that day and how special you made me feel. I think of you often -- look for glimpses of you in my son's eyes, (also blue like yours and mom's while the rest of us have green) and see your gentleness in him often. My dreams will all come true if he lives his life with the same adventurous spirit, gusto and compassion you had... I miss you Grandaddy!

02-05-2008 4:34 PM -- By: Tom Hagen, From: Minnesota What more can I say but he lived a full wonderful life. I'm sure that you all miss him. My parents both died in 1993, on the same day, we had a double funeral. I had 3 older brothers and they died also, the last one in 2000. I'm glad that you started this web site for all of us to put our memorials on it. Blessed be their memory.
02-02-2008 12:27 PM -- By: Doris Holmes, From: Ohio This is a man who lived his life to the fullest potential. It is good to see a great life remember like this. It was a pleasure reading about this handsome dashing young man who grew to be a husband, father, and grandfather. How lucky your family is to have had a wonderful person like him in your midst. It is sad for us who never knew him not to have been blessed by his presence. You've lived a great adventuous life Bob, have a peaceful rest.
01-09-2008 10:41 AM -- By: Leela Kearns, From: Houston Happy Birthday Daddy, love you and miss you more and more as the years go by. You were the best Dad a girl could ever have.
12-08-2007 6:02 AM -- By: Linda, From: Austin, Texas Wow! What a life. I had insomnia and was surging the web. My husband is almost 80 years old and I
stumbled on this, to see if I want to make a V.M.
Read Mr. Peace Memorial,
wow what a life! Sure is
a great memorial to him.
Is his wife still alive?
Where are the girls all
living? Calif? That's so
funny that grandkids had
never been to America. Boy
Mr. Peace knew what he wanted in life, and by
golly he went for it, didn't he! That's the way to live! Thanks YOU
so much, family who put it together. Linda in
Austin, Texas Beautiful,
the whole things is so
beautiful..
