This online memorial was created in loving memory of Keith Warne, whose life story is told throughout this memorial website.
Keith Thomas Warne was born May 11, 1962 in Sioux Falls, S.D., to Sandra Haugo of Sioux Falls and Douglas Warne of Eagan, MN. He grew up in Hartford, SD where he attended and graduated from West Central High School in 1980. While in high school Keith competed in wrestling and football and enjoyed spending time with his friends. After high school he worked until joining the U. S. Navy where he served 5 years from 1982 to 1987. After Boot Camp, Keith completed 1 year of rigorous training at numerous duty stations including Naval Aircrew Candidate School, Pensacola Florida; Aviation Fundamental, Memphis TN; Survival School, San Diego CA; Training Squadron (VP-31), Moffet Field CA. Upon completion of training, he reported to Patrol Squadron 6 (World Famous Blue Sharks) home based at Barbers Point Hawaii. He joined VP-6 while they were deployed to Naval Air Station Cubi Point Philippines. Keith served as a RADAR Operator aboard the P-3C Orion aircraft completing 3 WESTPAC deployments accumulating over 1000 flight hours during Cold War anti-submarine operations. He flew missions out of Alaska, Midway Island, Diego Garcia, Guam, Philippines, Thailand, Korea, Japan, Hong Kong and Malaysia. Acknowledged for his superior knowledge of the aircraft he was selected as an Instructor I Evaluator. His awards included: Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (with 2 stars), Good Conduct Medal, ASW Excellence Award, and two Letters of Commendation. After serving in the Navy, Keith resided in Sioux Falls and worked for Henry Carlson Construction in Sioux Falls. In 1998 he moved to White Bear Lake, MN to work for Old Home Dairy in St. Paul, MN., and Swieters Inc. in Hugo, MN. Most notably he saved his sister Kristi's life when she suffered an aneurysm in high school by driving at speed to get her to the hospital in the nick of time. Only Keith could have circumvented all traffic laws to do the right thing. If it wasn't for his quick thinking, clearheadedness under pressure and driving skills, she may not still be with us to this day. Let alone the fact that his nephew Greg may not have even been born. Godspeed.
He is survived by his parents, Sandra (Roger) Haugo of Sioux Falls, Douglas (Kathy) Warne of Eagan, MN; sister: Kristi Nordquist of Sioux Falls; brothers: Kevin (Lori) Warne of Sioux Falls, SD; Kenny Warne of White Bear Lake, MN; Eric E. Haugo of Flagstaff, AZ; Dennis (Amber) Warne of Eagan, MN; Brian Sprouse of Farmington, MN; Shannon (Melissa) Sprouse of Eagan, MN; 3 nieces; 7 nephews and man’s best friend, his dog Yappi. Please sign Keith's guest book and let us know you came to visit. We will remember Keith forever.
