Andrea Evelyn Kolessar was born June 5th, 1975 in St. Paul  Minnesota to Ronald and Deborah Kolessar.  She was lovingly welcomed by her older brother Nathan.  In Minnesota, she enjoyed a childhood of team sports, competitive dance and summers at the beach.

The Kolessar family moved to Maryland in 1990.  Andrea graduated from Hammond High School in 1993 and earned her Sociology degree from Towson University in 1998.  Her Career at Independence Court enabled her to express her love of people by supporting elderly residents and their families.  As the Admissions Director, Andrea was the first contact for families making arduous decisions for whom they would entrust the care of their loved ones.

On June 25th, 2005 Andrea married her best friend and love of her life, Johnny Burke.  Together the two enjoyed entertaining family and friends, music, travel, BBQ's and lazy Sundays all filled with lots of love and laughter.  Their passion for each other and their love for life continued to grow throughout their six year journey together.

In December 2006, Andrea underwent brain surgery to remove a tumor. Her courage and tenacity were evident throughout her treatment and recovery.  Quite naturally, Andrea put others needs before her own, making the last three months of her life especially challenging.  With her family and friends by her side, Andrea passed away unexpectedly on March 3rd, 2007.

Andrea has touched so many people with her passion and vibrance for life and love, she will always be in our hearts and thoughts.
