Ronald Brewer

Ron Brewer, 71, of Fort Worth went to be with his Lord early in the morning of Thursday, July 2, 2009, after a courageous struggle with traumatic brain injury.
Memorial service: 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden, 3220 Botanic Garden Blvd., Fort Worth.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Humane Society.
Ron will be remembered as a beloved son and father, grandfather and friend. Ron was born in Newport, Ky., the only child of Redith and Shiloh Brewer. Ron was a navigator-bombardier in the U.S. Air Force and served his country for over 20 years, including three years combat duty in Vietnam. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for his navigational skills during battle. Upon his retirement from the military, he obtained a bachelor's degree from Texas Christian University and worked for General Dynamics.
Ron's devotion to his grandchildren was unwavering. He was always supportive of them in their life pursuits and in their times of need. He loved caring for animals, especially birds. Ron bred and raised exotic parrots and was made an honorary lifetime member of the Fort Worth Bird Club. The family would like to extend its gratitude the staff at Regency Hospital for their compassionate and respectful care.
He was preceded in death by his father; mother; and beloved stepfather, Stuart Jacob. Ron's devotion to his mother was evidenced by his loving care for her the last 12 years of her life.
Survivors: Ron is survived by his children, Dr. Ronda Brewer, Kelly Brewer, Mark Brewer and Stuart Brewer; and grandchildren, Erika, Tiffany, Reena, Amber, Samantha, Sean, William and Emily.
