August 13 1945 - September 16 2010

This online memorial was created in loving memory of Rosalba Ocampo, whose life story is told throughout this memorial website. Please sign Rosalba's guest book and let us know you came to visit. We will remember Rosalba forever.

BROOKLINE, Massachusetts- Rosalba Ocampo, loving mother of: Louis Molano of East Boston, Wilson and wife Susan Molano of Northampton and David Ocampo of Brookline. Devoted daughter of Jorge Morales and Maria Morales.  Dedicated sister of Elsa Casallas of Queens, New York, Raphael Morales of Hollywood, Florida and Humberto Morales of Miami, Florida.  Favored Aunt of four nieces and four nephews.  Faithful friend to many.  Rosalba passed suddenly on Thursday, September 16th at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.  She was 65.

Originally from Pacho, Colombia, Rosalba, at a young age helped to raise her brothers and sister while teaching herself literacy skills. She moved to the United States in 1969, where she settled in Queens, New York with sons Louis and Wilson.  In 1975, she moved to Boston, where she settled in Brighton, working and single-handedly supporting her young sons.

Rosalba leaves three beautiful grandchildren, Sarah, Graciela, and Riker, along with many “adopted” children and grandchildren (Erika), as she was never one to turn away a child in a need.  She cared for many of her sons’ friends as if they were her own children, selflessly sacrificing her own needs so that they could have a hot meal and a roof over their heads, as well as a loving presence in their lives.

Rosalba served as a sage advice giver to her close friends and family with a strong spiritual foundation. Her excellent cooking skills will sorely be missed and her infectious laughter will remain in the hearts of those who knew her.

Rosalba’s selflessness did not end with her passing, as she was an organ donor who has already made a difference in many people’s lives.  In that tradition, we ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Rosalba’s name to the Home for Little Wanderers (www.thehome.org).

A memorial service will be held at Christ Church Unity, 70 Colchester Street in Brookline at 11:00AM on Saturday, October 2, 2010.  A celebration of her life will follow at the American Legion Post No. 442, 5 Greenough Boulevard in Cambridge (Jerry’s Landing), from 1:00PM-5:00PM.
