My mother was the "Wind Beneath My Wings." She was fullof life, had a good sense of humor and an appreciation ofbeauty in nature, until Alzheimer's Disease started takingher life from her.My mother and dad had just had their fiftieth anniversary eleven years ago before he died. The two of them hadfour children, three grandchildren, and a small farm in northeast Alabama.
My mother had probably had Alzheimer's for many years,at least ten or fifteen, before we realized it. Aftershe had a stroke three and a half years ago, she had tohave 24-hr a day care. My sister did it for a year and ahalf. Then I did for a year and four months. We put mymother in a nursing home in December 1995, and she died inApril 1996, just after her 80th birthday.
I loved my mother, and I miss her so much.
