Memories

Memorial created 11-7-2012
Thomas Morrison Glister
May 3 1947 - November 5 2012

This online memorial was created in loving memory of Tom Glister, whose life story is told throughout this memorial website. Please sign Tom's guest book and if you'd like, share a memory.

Tom passed away on November 5, 2012 after a courageous battle with ALS.  He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Tom was born in Manchester, England on May 3, 1947. After immigrating to Ontario in 1966 and settling in Halifax in 1973, he married and had two daughters, Julie Glister in 1976 and Jackie Glister in 1983.  Tom was a devoted father and loved to boast about his children.  He was by nature a traveller and took the family on many vacations over the years.  There were road to trips to Florida almost every winter, either in the family car or as part of his side business, Tom's Tours.  He loved hosting and cooking for others; close family and friends will remember his signature dish, prime rib, and the lively pool parties on Kingsmere Court.

Tom spent most of his career as a salesman, working over the years for MT&T Yellow Pages, Luxottica and World's Finest Chocolate.  As an avid reader, he almost always had a book within arm's reach and went through several a week.  He was also a great movie lover and a frequent attendee at the theatre.  Throughout his daughter's childhoods, he could frequently be found with either a camcorder or camera in hand, and left behind a library of memories for his family to cherish.

Tom will be missed dearly, especially by his loving daughters Julie and Jackie.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the ALS Society of Canada: www.als.ca/en/donate
