Lynda Sue Close
February 25 1947 - February 17 2017

Lynda Sue Close was born on February 25, 1947 in Atoka, Oklahoma to Amos Luther Gray and Oneta Vern Gray. On June 4, 1966, she married her true love Roger Leroy Close, and moved to Grinnell, Iowa where they set up roots and had their only child, Richard Close. She passed away on Friday, February 17th at 1201 in the afternoon, just one week shy of her 70th birthday. She is preceded in death by her parents, and her brother Amos Dale Gray (Buddy). Lynda would like you to know that her work here is done. She received a call, a sort of an offer that you just can't refuse, for an appointment from which she won't be returning. This assignment comes with a huge sign on bonus, a reunion with family and friends she has not seen in a long time. Her new mission takes her to a wonderful place where she will be socializing, dancing, painting, and reading to her heart's content. Music, laughter, and love are guaranteed. Food is delicious and you never gain and ounce. She left detailed instructions for her husband Roger, son Richard, daughter-in-law Gina, sisters- Jaynie, Janet, and their families. Grandchildren- Grace, Jeanine and Shawn, with their families, Nicole, and countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and great grandchildren to celebrate her mission here, which has now been completed. As she walks the streets of gold, we'd like to give special mention to three people who were very important to her. Daniel, husband to Jeanine, who was her caretaker, confidant, and friend, Lisa, mother to Jeanine who was, through her final days a pillar of comfort and strength, and her special friend Cindy, mother to Daniel, who Lynda loved from the start. Lynda loved life, and she loved people. Every person she came in contact with was changed by her for the better, and became family in her heart. She will be dearly missed.
