My Mother, Carrie Feiler
My mother died in the afternoon of August 3, 1994, at home,
after a 2 year desperate battle with ovarian cancer. From the moment
she knew she was sick, my mother did not waste an instant of the time
she would live. My father, George, was her constant incentive. Their
love story continued.
I thank my mother for the absolute freedom she gave me to be
whatever I chose, to risk failure for the chance of success. I thank
her for raising a daughter who stands proud and confident. My mother
fought the impending doom of her death valiantly, yet accepted it just
as stoicly. She gave all of us who loved her, and there are so many
in number, the gift of the freedom of her soul. She let us love her
and care for her in her dying. Her courage gave us strength.
Mom, I miss you every minute. I cherish the feeling of your nearness,
willing it to come again. Your humor, your kindness, your intuition will
never be forgotten.
I love you.
