This online memorial was created in loving memory of Bob McGinnis, whose life story is told throughout this memorial website. Please sign Robert 's guest book and let us know you came to visit. We will remember Bob forever.
Robert Ramsey McGinnis, aged 61, died suddenly after a brief battle with liver cancer. He is survived by his son Jeff (Gina and Sofia) of Seattle, and his sisters Marsha Alan (Bob) and Bonnie Jensen (Stan).
Bob was born in Bellingham, July 23, 1945 and graduated from BHS in 1963.
He played varsity basketball and ran relay and hurdles in track. He also played the snare drums in the school band. Summer vacations took him to Alaska on a fishing boat.
He met his sweetheart Lana Colley in junior high, and they eventually married and moved to Seattle.
By then he had graduated from WWSC majoring in education, specifically PE.
He taught PE and Health at 3 Seattle high schools, but his passion was coaching track and taking his accomplished athletes to State.
He also enjoyed acting and modeling. He had several bit parts in movies "acting" with John Wayne, and Patty Duke.
Bob adored his son Jeff and was an exemplary father until his undiagnosed Bi-Polar disease and his alcoholism affected his behavior. He continued to battle these diseases until his death 3/1/07.
Bob will hopefully be remembered for his charismatic personality, engaging smile and athleticism. His family is grateful that he is finally at peace.
