This online memorial was created in loving memory of Kristin McCall, beloved daughter, sister, grandaughter, niece, cousin and friend, whose life story is told throughout this memorial website. Please sign Kristin's guest book and let us know you came to visit. We will remember Kristin forever.

Our beautiful daughter, Kristin, was killed on March 12th 2006 by a drunk driver at the young age of 24. She was a second grade teacher at Normandy Village Elementary School in Jacksonville Florida. Kristin was a very upbeat, positive person, always with a smile on her face. If you had a problem or worry, Kristin was the go-to girl. She would help you solve the problem or at least she would make you laugh so your worries didn't feel so bad when you were with her.

Kristin was blessed with a wisdom beyond her years. She was a very kind, honest, patient, caring and loving young woman. I've been told that God takes the "best" young and I'm sure he needed her to teach the children in Heaven but life is so very painful without her.

Kristin was born March 20, 1981 in Mattoon, Illinois weighing 5 lbs. 13oz. She started out tiny but she quickly developed into a spunky little girl with her own ideas and opinions. Kristin was privileged to have as a babysitter her great-grandmother, Gladys Malone, while her mother worked. Kristin inherited many of Grandma Malone's best traits such as kindness, patience, empathy and a love of books. One day while Kristin was doing her math homework (which I couldn't figure out) I wondered out loud where Kristin inherited her intelligence from. My grandmother without missing a beat replied "She must have got that from me but maybe it skipped you" She was kidding me but I will never forget that comment which I in later years shared with Kristin. Kristin of course agreed with her great-grandmother as she loved to kid me to no end.

Kristin started reading at the age of three and her love of books continued the rest of her life. She always loved school and was admitted to the gifted program in elementary school. Kristin's love of learning continued throughout her life, from teaching her stuffed animals "school" at home to completing her elementary education degree at the University of North Florida.

We have established the Kristin McCall Memorial Scholarship in Kristin's memory at UNF for students majoring in elementary education. This scholarship will forever honor Kristin's spirit as an outstanding teacher and enable others to pursue their hopes and dreams.
